2012 Victorian State Series Round 1 Results
The first round of the Victorian State Bike Trials Series was held on Sunday 15th April at the fantastic Mt Bolton property, near Ballarat. The sections were tough, but the sunny conditions and enthusiasm amongst the riders for this season opener made the day a great success!
Pro rider Joe Brewer (11 points) made a good start to the season with a clear victory over friend and rival, Andrew Dickey (20 points). Nathan Mummery had a strong ride to take out third place on 47 points. The remainder of the Pro field (Paul Gerloff, Jon Tullerud, and Owen Gwilliam) struggled with the difficult sections and scored the maximum 75 points each.
In the ever-competitive Elite class, the sections were very difficult, making for some high scores. Matt Harding showed a great improvement from last year, by taking first place on 56 points, followed closely by Kleat Wilson on 57, then Haydon Solomano (68 points), and Boyd Wilson (75 points).
Arch rivals Bob Langham and Jeff Solomano both made the move up from Novice to Sport class this year, and took out 2nd and 3rd place, on 69, and 71 points respectively. Toby Rushford led the way in Sport class with a clear victory on 19 points.
In the Novice class, Barney Langham took the win on 34 points, and Tom Anderson 2nd on 65.
